After the wildfires, Bloc calls for sustained support to victims and faster reconstruction

National statement of solidarity on the wildfires and their aftermath
The Hisn Al-Mateen Bloc has followed, with national responsibility and concern, developments related to the fires that have hit a number of areas of the country, the loss of life, property and forest and farm resources they have caused, and the suffering they have brought to many families and citizens.
Renewing our sincere condolences to the victims' families and our prayers for the swift recovery of the injured, we affirm that standing by affected citizens is a national and humanitarian duty, and that true solidarity should not stop at one-off aid but must extend to accompanying those affected, rehabilitating the stricken areas and helping residents return to normal life.
In this context, the Hisn Al-Mateen Bloc commends all the measures taken by State institutions for those affected, and calls for continued care for families who lost their homes and property, and for faster reconstruction and repair of water and electricity networks, roads and public facilities, so that normal life can resume as soon as possible.
The Bloc stresses that civil society is a partner in facing crises and disasters, and that its role is to contribute to relief and solidarity, convey citizens' concerns and help organise solidarity initiatives, in coordination with the competent authorities and official bodies, foremost among them the National Civil Society Observatory.
At the same time, the Bloc emphasises the importance of stronger prevention and vigilance, protecting forest and farm resources, property and lives, and applying the law with full rigour against anyone proven responsible for deliberately starting fires or for any act endangering citizens, their property or the environment.
Protecting the nation in times of crisis is not the responsibility of a single institution but a collective one requiring the combined efforts of the State, civil society, citizens, economic actors and all the living forces of society.
The Hisn Al-Mateen Bloc renews its call to strengthen national solidarity, foster a culture of prevention, support those affected, protect the home front and stand united against anything that threatens the nation's security and citizens' safety.
