Serious crime: Bloc supports the death penalty for the gravest offences, with fair-trial safeguards

Official statement: combating serious crime and the death penalty

The Hisn Al-Mateen Bloc reaffirms its steadfast support for all legal and institutional measures aimed at protecting society and safeguarding the security of citizens, especially children, and at confronting serious crimes that threaten lives, property and public stability.

The Bloc stresses that intentional killing, crimes targeting children and deliberate fires linked to criminal or sabotage acts that undermine the security of the State and society require firm enforcement of the law, with thorough and independent investigations, responsibility established on the basis of evidence, and full respect for the rights of the defence and the independence of the judiciary.

In this context, the Hisn Al-Mateen Bloc declares its support for applying the death penalty to the most serious crimes when the strict legal conditions are met and criminal responsibility has been established by a final court ruling, after all avenues of appeal have been exhausted, so as to ensure justice and prevent any injustice or miscarriage of justice.

The Bloc also stresses that fighting crime is not limited to punishment; it also requires prevention and awareness, cutting off the sources of criminal financing, better coordination between security and judicial services, and a stronger role for families, schools and civil society in protecting children and preventing delinquency and crime.

The Hisn Al-Mateen Bloc renews its commitment to the rule of law, respect for court rulings and the guarantee of a fair trial, and affirms its support for every serious institutional effort to protect citizens, national wealth and public security.
