Hisn Al-Mateen Bloc commemorates the massacres of 8 May 1945

Hisn Al-Mateen Bloc Foundation commemorates the painful anniversary of the massacres of 8 May 1945, committed by French colonialism against the defenceless Algerian people — one of the most heinous crimes in human history — in which thousands of martyrs fell in Sétif, Guelma, Kherrata and other parts of the country, defending dignity, freedom and the right to self-determination.

This anniversary is not merely a historical milestone but a message of loyalty to the martyrs’ sacrifices, and a reminder that Algeria was built with the blood of free men and women and the resilience of its people, and that preserving the nation’s unity and stability remains a collective responsibility requiring awareness, cohesion and patriotism.

The Foundation affirms that remembering 8 May carries deep national and human dimensions, and renews its call to root the culture of national memory among young people and connect generations with the history of resistance and struggle, so that these sacrifices remain a source of inspiration for building a strong and secure future for Algeria.

Glory and eternity to our righteous martyrs. Long live Algeria.
