Hisn Al-Mateen Bloc attends parliamentary ethics seminar, stresses it is a civil body, not a party

Hisn Al-Mateen Bloc took part today, Saturday 2 May 2026, in the national seminar organised by the Association of Algerian Parliamentarians under the title “Code of Conduct and Ethics of the Algerian Parliamentarian”, held in the conference hall of the National Insurance Company (SAA) headquarters in Bab Ezzouar, Algiers, in the presence of members of the Council of the Nation, national executives and political figures.

The Bloc was due to be represented by its president, Mr Djelloul Chetouane, who however declined to take the floor and deliver his address because of the way the Bloc was introduced — as a political party, a description that does not reflect its true nature.

In this regard, Hisn Al-Mateen Bloc wishes to clarify to the public that it is an independent civil associative framework bringing together national talent from various fields, contributing to public debate and supporting national initiatives, away from any party affiliation or classification.

At the same time, the Bloc values such dialogue initiatives bringing together parliamentarians, civil-society representatives and national executives, for their role in promoting a culture of dialogue and the exchange of views on governance and public ethics.

The Bloc renews its steadfast commitment to serving the public good within an independent civil framework, as a contribution to national efforts.

It also extends its sincere thanks to the Association of Algerian Parliamentarians for organising the seminar and for its efforts to promote institutional debate and the values of responsibility and transparency.
