Bloc stands with the Mauritanian and Sahrawi peoples after border escalation

Statement of the Hisn Al-Mateen Bloc on the serious developments on the Mauritanian–Sahrawi border
In view of the growing escalation along the border strip between the Islamic Republic of Mauritania and the Sahrawi Republic, and the targeting of innocent Mauritanian civilians by the Moroccan air force inside the buffer zone, the Hisn Al-Mateen Bloc Institution expresses:
- its full solidarity with the brotherly Mauritanian and Sahrawi peoples in the face of this blatant aggression, which reveals the true nature of the Moroccan Makhzen’s hostile scheme;
- its welcome for the Mauritanian army’s sovereign redeployment along the border, a clear message rejecting any infringement of the country’s sovereignty and its citizens’ security;
- the significance of the visit to the presidential palace in Nouakchott by a high-level Sahrawi delegation led by military commanders, including the head of Sahrawi intelligence, received by President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani — a sign of the depth of Mauritanian–Sahrawi relations and of Mauritania’s steadfast support for the Sahrawi cause;
- its warning about the danger of the military bases set up by the Moroccan regime along the so-called “wall of shame”, equipped with Israeli attack drones used in systematic strikes against Sahrawi and even Mauritanian civilians.
In this context, the Institution commends the historic and pivotal role of Algeria, which remains:
- a free voice defending the right of peoples to self-determination;
- a home for all just causes, foremost among them the Sahrawi cause;
- a pillar of security and stability in the Sahel and the Maghreb.
Algeria, its leadership, people and institutions, has never abandoned and will never abandon its steadfast principle of supporting what is right and resisting injustice; it is the strong fortress for all the free people of the region.
We reaffirm that the Sahrawi cause is not only the cause of a people but a cause of principle, ethics and humanity.
One Homeland, One Nation, One History, One Destiny
