Bloc calls on Algeria’s elites and political forces to mobilise for Palestine

Statement in support of the Palestinian cause

At this difficult time for Palestine, especially the Gaza Strip, where our Palestinian people are suffering the worst forms of extermination, starvation and killing, the Hisn Al-Mateen Bloc renews its firm and steadfast support for the Palestinian cause and affirms that Palestine is not a seasonal cause but the heart of every liberation struggle in the world.

We believe that Algeria’s entire elite — thinkers, academics, journalists, politicians and activists — is called upon to shoulder its historic responsibilities towards what is happening in Palestine. All Algerian political forces, without exception, must raise their voices and act by every available means:

• in the media, through awareness campaigns and exposing the facts;
• diplomatically, by advocating the cause in international forums;
• politically and in parliament, by pressing to criminalise normalisation and to support Palestinian rights in full.

We reject any plan to liquidate the cause or to circumvent the right of return and of resistance, and we consider that today’s battle is fought not only on the ground but also over awareness, memory and principle.

Palestine is our central cause, and Algeria has been and will remain faithful to its liberation principles.
