Bloc president Djelloul Chetouane to El Wassat: 'The President has delivered most of his promises'

Bloc president Djelloul Chetouane to El Wassat: 'The President has delivered most of his promises'

The El Wassat daily published in its Wednesday 10 July 2024 edition a front-page article by journalist Hakim Malek entitled 'Hisn Al-Mateen Bloc: the President of the Republic has delivered most of what he promised', reporting statements by the Bloc's President, Mr Djelloul Chetouane.

He stated that the President of the Republic had achieved most of his goals, promises and commitments under the pact he made with Algerians on taking office, and that his reforms and fulfilled promises could not be ignored. He recalled that the Bloc, which follows the country's social, political and economic situation closely, was the first to call on Mr Abdelmadjid Tebboune to seek a second term as a natural and wise continuation of his reforms.

Mr Chetouane described the decision to hold an early presidential election on 7 September as a strong sign of the President's confidence in his people and the electorate, noting that the reforms had extended to the State's constitutional bodies with the creation of the High Council of Youth, the National Civil Society Observatory, the High Authority for Transparency and the Prevention and Fight against Corruption, and the Constitutional Court.

He called on all civil-society actors — trade unions, associations and civic organisations — to come together to protect, unify and strengthen the internal front in support of State institutions, arguing that their union under the reconciliation initiative would strengthen the State and shut out those seeking to divide society, given the threats on the external front and borders, and that answering this call is the duty of every Algerian.
